I listened to an audiobook about 10 years ago. It's set on an island, the narrator's teenage daughter has disappeared and the tide is coming in.
Spoiler alert:
She finds her daughter just in time, the tide is about to cover up an old building. I think the girl was imprisoned there by the narrator's boyfriend/partner, she discovered a secret about him

Any ideas?
