Has anyone read this? Just wanted to discuss it with someone. I'm listening to the audio version and haven't heard it all, but still wanted a chat about it.

No, but having just discovered T M Logan and read The Curfew and Trust Me, I'll be on it soon!! 😉

Come back on here when you have! I'm dying to talk about it.

Yes - it's a good one!

Did you think so? I quite liked it but there were so many disappointing things about it.

The main character works in IT yet he doesn't know about reverse image searching and had never heard of Air Tags. People were coming to his house and he never thought of getting CCTV. He was chasing people around but didn't think of getting a dash cam. No wonder he was made redundant!

Then the woman whose husband had gone missing - she was one of my main suspects because she knew where he'd lived without being told and she also found a gravestone in a very big cemetery via a death certificate within an hour of being told someone's name. Now the main character did wonder about this but then stopped wondering and we never learned how it had happened.

The actual culprit - well, that was just ridiculous, really. Too farfetched.

Yes I've just finished it and was disappointed with the ending. Too far fetched and a bit pointless.

The main reason I came on to search for posts on this is because of the random chapters about people who are totally un related? What on earth is that about?

I'm not a big reader and this is the first book I have read in a while, it's not given me much hope.

And just to add, my DH is in IT, as a web developer. He is the least technical person I know!!

I've just finished this today!

I found The Curfew in a charity shop and loved it so wanted to read some more of the same author.

I found this one not as good really, although it was an easy read that I wanted to keep turning the pages on!

I thought the culprits might have been the woman and son of the missing man, then the cleaner and her cousin (brother?) crossed my mind too. It was obviously written to cast suspicions on them, mentioning the double act.

All of the chapters written about the random people were about the murder victims. If you reread them, they all mention one of the items he found in the drawers - glasses, scarf, key, etc....

Ah OK, I had the audio book version so they just seemed really out of place and it was as if the recording had gone wrong somewhere. I do have the actual book so will re read them.

spottedinthewilds · 23/09/2024 07:17

It's almost as if it was supposed to be the cleaner and her cousin. But then they decided he didn't like that ending as let's see who else is named in the book and name them instead with some spurious motive.

Yes, it did feel a bit like that! Just some random man in the end 😆

I don't do audiobooks but I can see how those chapters would have felt a bit strange being read out!
