Looking for summer reading inspiration. Currently loving The Whispers by Ashley Audrain, last year loved The Paper Palace. Always enjoy a good Lisa Jewell.

What books are you all taking on holiday this summer?

In taking a fiction - Hotel Du Lac by Anita Brookner. A non-fiction - The Wild Places by Robert MacFarlane. And a funny light-hearted one- James Acaster's Classic Scrapes

James Acaster is so funny!

King Hereafter by Dorothy Dunnett. I'm going to Scotland.

I have to make a start on my book club summer reads - Yellowface and The Unwedding. I'm also hoping to squeeze in the new Cecilia Aherne.

Going to reread Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Seed Collectors by Scarlett Thomas (been on my 'to read' shelf for ever) and The Wild Silence by Raynor Winn (as will be in Cornwall).

I'm reading my way through the Father Brown Mysteries books, I have one left.

Yes, it merges the stories of Thorfinn the Mighty from the Icelandic Sagas and Macbeth from the Anglo Saxon Chronicles. They were contemporaries and both grandchildren of the King of Scotland but the Icelandic sagas never mention Macbeth and the Anglo Saxon Chronicles never mention Thorfinn leading some to suggest they were the same person.

Just no, very average.
