Crime series

I'm totally overwhelmed with the amount of crime writers and I have no idea who to read! I've read the Roy Grace series so looking for something similar... easy reading for holiday, but a good long series I can get my teeth into, what have you read and loved please?

Now I love Montalbano books and they would be a great choice if the OP is going to Sicily but I really didn't get on with the Agatha Raisin book I tried.

I'm enjoying the David Gatward Harry Grimm series at the moment.

Ajay Chowdhury's Kamil Rahman series. He was a disgraced detective in the Indian police force who moves to London to work in an Indian restaurant.

Thanks @Highlandcathedral for the JD Kirk recommendation. I’ve just finished the first and started the second. I love a nice long series on kindle unlimited. And it was really enjoyable.

MJ Arlidge - Helen Grace series
James Patterson- Alex Cross series, Womans Murder Club series or any of his standalones

Ben Aaronovitch Rivers of London series
Anne Cleeves Vera series

And not a series but John Marrs books are pretty good too.

Elly Griffiths also does the Harbinder Kaur series, which is very good.

But the best crime series of all time is Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie series.
