Borrow Box frustrations

I love Borrow Box and listen to at least 2 books a week ( long commute) but find it so frustrating when I get into a series and there are gaps or as today , series of 8 and only 1-6 available.

Guess I need to get Audible and buy the missing ones.

I also wonder why there is a waiting list for some Borrow Box books.
I'm sure I must be missing something but it is just an electronic thing-why can't it be loaned out dozens of times at once?
It's not as if it has is a physical book that has to be brought back and given to the next reader on the list.

I find the waiting lists make BorrowBox almost unusable for me. With over a week to go until a long drive, I tried to borrow any Roald Dahl or Isadora Moon/Mirabelle/Emerald book for my children to listen to. Nothing was available for literally months. I understand not necessarily being able to get exactly what you want but any old Roald Dahl book would have done and I'm sure if you walked into a library there would be a couple on the shelves. I know you can reserve them but I want to be able to borrow books when we have time to listen. I also don't want it to be a huge faff I need to think about 3 months in advance.

If you have Spotify premium you get 15 hours of audiobook a month (limited to 2 titles I think).
I bounce around between that and BorrowBox and Audible.
