Help me find a book - British Mandate era Israel

I’m trying to find a book and having a major blank.

It’s a book about a young girl who leaves London to go to Israel and falls in love with an Irgun terrorist and gets accidentally pregnant with his baby. I think it was by a Guardian journalist.

Does anyone know the name of this?

It’s been probably 10 years since I read it, as a hand me down from my aunt. If I remember rightly I found it a bit too description heavy and I don’t think I knew enough about the political and historical context to get the most out of it.
