This was recommended to me by a few people, but I didn't enjoy it.
I found it quite dull, and very bitty - moving between time zones a lot.

Just wondered if it is only me?

I remember being disappointed by the ending it was very ambiguous.
I like a proper ending

I have just finished reading it. It seemed to drift along punctuated by awful events. I wouldn't recommend it as it felt like a bit of a waste of my time.

This was a very rare DNF for me. I just didn’t care about a grown woman lusting after her childhood sweetheart. Glad to hear I wasn’t just being an old grump.

Odd one out here but I really liked it!

I read this a while ago, and I loved this book. I was sad to finish it.

I wouldn't say dull, but it did leave a bit of a strange taste in my mouth. Read it a while ago and can't remember in much detail why, but I think I found the characters quite bitter and rather cruel in the way they expressed themselves.
I did love the setting though; I'm a sucker for things with that kind of sandy, summery, outdoorsy Eastern seaboard vibe, with people spending their whole summer in a wood cabin and going out on boats and swimming in ponds.

I didn't enjoy it.

It was recommended to me by a friend, I thought I was just missing something.

It took me a while to get into it, and like a pp I didn't give a shit about a middle age woman pining after her first love. But there are a lot of layers in there, her childhood, her mother, some horrendus background stuff. I ended up really enjoying it.

I wasn't expecting to like it (my sister recommended it and we generally tend to hate each others loves!) but I actually really liked it.

I listened to it and half felt like others that she was just a whiny cow with her perfect husband and her summer house. But I also thought the storytelling and character building was pretty good (little character hints dropped throughout about why the main character seems so passive much of the time). So I think it was a good book but I didn't like it much.
