With June just around the corner, I would love to pick up some summery books to read.

I tend towards classics and historical fiction, but will happily read any genre - I just want a sunny, warm book which takes place during summer.

Yes, Mother's Milk is superb.

I'm going on holiday soon and have decided to take Anthony Burgess' Enderby novels, Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour and Oscar Wilde's De Profundis.

Thank you all for your recommendations, ‘The summer book’ by Tove Jannson sounds perfect! I only know her work from The Moomins which was a childhood favourite, so I’m sure I will love this.
