Non fiction or fiction are both good, just something I can get really involved with. I like lots of different things from Robert MacFarlane nature writing and walks to YA fantasy and classics, although I like things that involve me and provoke my internet so I keep reading

The Lobotomist’s Wife by Samantha Greene-Woodruff. It was uncomfortable at times but a fascinating read.

Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry

If you like YA and fantasy then you should definitely read The Fourth Wing.

I've just finished 'the marriage portrait' by Maggie O Farrell. First good book I've read in ages!

Helen MacDonald's H is for Hawk contains some beautiful, poetic nature writing.

Roger Deakin also wrote some stunningly beautiful books about the British countryside.

I'll have a look at Roger Deakin too xx

If you like H is for Hawk, you'll love Deakin. He too has a beautiful, poetic style, but he's more cheerful. MacDonald's book was about grief as much as anything, and so is kind of bleak (though also superb).

Where are you going? I like something connected to the area.

Bringing back the Beaver by Derek Gow is brilliant - about reintroducing the beaver to the UK. Its poetic in places but also the 1st laugh out loud funny book I've read in a long while.

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson is v good also. About walking the Appalachian trail.
