Yoto for adults?

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas. I think my elderly Nan would enjoy listening to audiobooks. However she doesn't have a CD player and I think would find locating the app for an audible equivalent and playing a book a bit of a struggle. It would be great if there was a Yoto equivalent really simple to use for people who want to listen to adult fiction not just Disney and fairy tales. Is there something I am missing? Thanks.

Would and Alexa (or other similar device) and voice recognition work better ?

You could definitely make the Yoto work for your nan. With MYO cards and the borrowbox from the library, you can download library audiobooks onto blank cards.

I do similar with my kids.

Thanks @BoohooWoohoo I did think that as she has a google home, but my parents have said she gets into a bit of a muddle with it as her speech isnt always very clear and if it asked her to confirm she would get a bit confused.

Thanks @supercalifragilistic123 do the audiobooks stop working when the loan period expires? That's what happens with my Kobo when I download content from Borrow Box. Then someone would need to be on hand to help Nan out.

If you use the borrowbox Web page rather than the app you can download the audiobook file to your phone without a time limit.

We have a pack of myo cards that we have on rotation. One they have finished listening to one book, I overwrite it with a new book.

There might be an easier way but this works for us. There are fb and reddit pages with more information.

@supercalifragilistic123 that's brilliant thank you. Sounds like it could be just the thing for us.
