listening to this on audio book and honestly should I continue? Think I’m on chapter 22 or something. Hardly anything has happened apart from loads of long conversation about heresy and various orders of monks. There’s also loads of Latin and other languages which aren’t translated which I can just about keep up with as I have a languages degree… but really should I bother to keep going with it?
I haven’t seen the film so I have no idea what is going on.

tbh? i loved reading the book, but if you don't want philosophical ramblings, which is about 60% of Eco's work - then the film is your best bet.

I loved the book. Hated the film. I liked the philosophical ramblings. Foucault's Pendulum was really unreadable though.

I quite liked that one - you might be better reading the book though.
I can’t process novels via audio, only non fiction. I think for some fiction you need to be able to see the words and go back over things.

Honestly, Umberto Eco can be really hard work to read. I enjoyed both The name of the Rose and Foucault 's Pendulum much more second time around, FP more so. It's a really complex, rich book and I loved it on my second attempt, years after the first one. They're great stories, if you can get into them.

Hmm yes maybe it’s not the best one to listen to on audio, but that’s about all I can manage for the moment!

I also loved book. But i also loved Foucault's Pendulum too.

I'd ditch it personally. I found it torturous to finish. It's one of the worst books I've ever read.

There are too many amazing books out there to stick with one that is doing nothing for you.

I absolutely love it and have reread it at least twice. But agree that it would be hard work on audio.

I loved it, carry on !
