DD is 7 and has never picked up a book for pleasure. She is pretty full on and I would love it if she opted to spend a bit of time quietly reading a book.
I am fully aware that she finds it tricky but she is at the expected band for her age so can read fairly well (I think she's classed as a 'free reader')
So I'm wanting something that she will find exciting, lots of pictures, lower case letters rather than capitals, can be picked up and put down.
She likes studio Ghibli films so thought some gentle anime might be nice.
I don't know what is appropriate though for her age so open to any recommendations. Open to non picture book ideas too.
