I like books with lots of outdoors, dramatic weather and atmospheric. I also like spooky and horror books and I'm not averse to good, well written 'chick lit' either.
If you've read anything good recently that fits any of the above, please pass on.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey would fit your brief. It’s set in rural Alaska with its harsh winters and there’s a hint of the supernatural.

I've always thought Lord of the Rings is a great book to re-read when the nights draw in.
