Not buying anymore books this year! Whose in?

I have a huge TBR pile, both physical and on Kindle. Buying books is my absolute addiction but I really need to cut back, for the sake of space and my bank balance.
So I am going to try and not buy any more physical books until the end of the year.
A couple of disclaimers/ exceptions:

  • have a birthday in the autumn and will get book vouchers
  • might indulge in 99p Kindle deals if there are things I have my eye on.
Anyone want to join me?

Oh dear......didn’t realise the new Strike was out in September.
I retract my pledge immediately!

frozendaisy · 05/09/2023 17:40

One only one disclaimer

@BaconAndAvocado 26th September 😃

BaconAndAvocado · 05/09/2023 17:45

I can't resist a new Strike!

Still resisting apart from the disclaimer and I had to scour Amazon for birthday present ideas ..........

No one really buys full price books anymore.
Most people wait for Audible, second hand or library downloads.

Authors aren't getting their remuneration.

The result is that so many famous people are being plugged.
If you're already famous then you can guarantee a publicity stunt.

I feel so sorry for lesser known authors who have worked so incredibly hard.

Book publishing is a giant , money spinning machine.

Impossible!! I have about 50 to read but will still buy more. I've read 53 this year and am aiming for 75.
We have amazing charity shops...49p a book...and I buy lots on ebay
