I'll start with The Handsome Man's Deluxe Cafe by Alexander McCall Smith.

I've bought it for DFIL who is a little bit poorly and is enjoying some lighter reads. It's a lovely hardback edition and was from a great little charity shop.

What's your latest purchase? Wink

I bought 3 books last week, now looking forward to lots of reading!
The Winners by Fredrick Backman (its #3 in a trilogy)
The Other Side of the Bridge by Mary Lawson
My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell

@Longlist aren't books about troubled Women some of the best books? Wink

@oceanskye let us know how you get on with The Winners. I loved the first two although I'll probably wait until January before reading this one as it sounds like a good winter book Wink

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto I have made a start on The Winners, not too far through it yet. Honestly the writing is slightly bugging me, it's probably just due to the translation. "I'm so mad," he shouted angrily - that sort of stuff. Maybe it was the same in the first two and I've just forgotten? Love the characters and the setting still, so overall I'm enjoying it!

Two together:

Home by David Storey
And The Card by Arnold Bennett

The first I love reading play scripts and haven't read one in a while. The second I've seen the film so many times and fancied reading the book.

Thanks, I'll definitely try it once the weather is a bit more in keeping with the mood of the book.

@tobee I've actually never seen it. There's a new play adaptation, but I've not seen that either. Must sort myself out Grin

Old thread!

This time o year I'm still working through Christmas presents but I bought Nimona by ND Stevenson to read before I watched the film. DD1 loves Lumberjanes by the same author.

Just finished The Mirror and the Light. About to start on the latest Linwood Barclay because I need a bit of brain mush.
