I loved all the other books Marian Keyes has written, especially those about the Walsh family sisters, but I’m so disappointed with this book. It’s just boring. Anyone else?

I've had to stop reading the last 2/3 from her now. She used to be my absolute go to but I've found them so boring I just didn't care enough to even finish them.

The break was boring and silly and they're getting worse.

I used to love MK books, but I didn’t enjoy this one at all. I came close to giving up on it a couple of times, but I kept on until the end hoping to find some of the wit and insight of Rachel’s Holiday, which I enjoyed many years ago and which I remember made me laugh out loud a few times.

Rachel, Again was a depressing disappointment. The Walsh family were unfunny caricatures, especially the mother, and the storyline with Luke’s American girlfriend was too far-fetched. Rachel herself left me mostly indifferent, sometimes perplexed.

It’s been years since I read a Marian Keyes book, and I’m wondering if my tastes have changed too much to appreciate her writing now, or if she herself has changed too much to write as she used to.

Seeing this thread title pop up reminded me I didnt finish this book! I used to read MK non-stop on long haul flights, it made the hours fly by (!) but this one missed the mark for me - so boring.

I loved it! She's so talented and seems so lovely on her podcast on BBC sounds.

Just don't like the inconsistencies. Rachel and Luke has a baby boy called Moses who was referenced to in another Walsh family book yet in this book it's made out Yara is their first and only child......

Yes, this was in Mammy Walsh’s A-Z of the Walsh Family. However, I reread that recently (on kindle) and it’s been updated to remove the bit that said Rachel and Luke had Moses. It’s gone completely - I searched!

I don’t know whether Marian just forgot she’d invented Moses when she came to write Again, Rachel; or perhaps she hoped that because it was just one quick mention in a spin-off ebook nobody would remember.

It’s disappointing though that they’ve gone back and amended the Mammy Walsh book so there’s no way now to ‘prove’ Moses ever existed! And a bit creepy - I wonder what other kindle books get edited like that and we would never know unless we specifically remember a bit that vanishes!

@ChessieFL yes, I read it in the A-Z of mammy Walsh over the summer (July I think) and it was there then but I went to look the other day and it was gone
