The Family Remains: anyone reading this? WTF

Just finished this. The sequel to Lisa Jewell's The Family Remains, which wasn't perfect but was intriguing. This one is just so incredibly bad, it's like a bot has written it. Makes zero sense. Why did thepublisher even put it out?

Ugh it's a sequel to The Family Upstairs, of course. MN needs an edit button.

I read it and thought it was unnecessary, The Family Upstairs didn't really need a sequel and the whole Rachel character/storyline was pointless, it just felt like padding.
I read another Lisa Jewell sequel and that was terrible too.

I'm currently reading The Family Upstairs, and enjoying it. Thank you for letting me know the sequel's not worth bothering with! Shame though.

The family remains was utterly deranged and the mad cross over of plots was stupid. Pointless sequel.

Right? The Rachel plot was so unnecessary. Also what was the point of Henry pursuing Phineas all the way around the world, and then nothing happened....

I liked it because it gave added depth to the characters of The Family Upstairs. I found those characters really well developed and with enough mystery to keep me on the hook.

One thing I really didn't enjoy was the annoying policeman storyline in TFR. The way he just tenuously lept to his conclusion about it being the kids who were guilty of doing something to Birdie instead of the obvious conclusion of the suicidal parents being the guilty ones??

I mean that propelled the policeman's entire story and it was completely baseless!
