Similar book to Lessons in Chemistry required!

I loved LiC and would like to read a similar book - what would you recommend please?

Not so recently published but The Women’s Room by Marilyn French is similar

Not recent but maybe The World According to Garp. Also some similarities between the world as seen by Six thirty vs Marcellus the Octopus in Remarkably Bright Creatures

The Rosie Project and Elinor Oliphant. Same theme with a "quirky" protagonist.

I have just ordered it for my kindle

I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and loved it as much as Lessons in Chemistry

The cassandra complex by Holly Smale although there's a fantasy element that makes it a bit different.
I raced through it- really enjoyed it

Remarkably Bright Creatures about a woman’s relationship with an octopus.

I'm not enjoying LiC at all. Should I preservere?

It was a DNF for me, was very disappointed after all the hype.

I think I missed the hype. I'm going to ditch it.

I haven't read lic yet, but loved the Rosie project it's a fab book.

The Maid by Nita Prose is in a similar vein, and very readable.

That seems a very odd leap.

Why?

It’s also about a woman trying to forge an independent life and career in the 60’s/70’s and the obstacles put in her way to do so. It immediately came to my mind when I was reading LiC even before this poster made her thread.
