I really enjoyed the Alice Roberts' programme 'Ancient Egypt by Train' which was on TV earlier. I'd like to learn more about Ancient Egypt and Egyptian Gods etc. Any recommendations?

DH read The Story of Egypt by Joann Fletcher after a TV show she did a few years ago. He enjoyed it!

I'd like to recommend basically everything Naguib Mahfouz ever wrote. (Only Egyptian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature) Some of his books, including Khufu's Wisdom and Rhadopis, were set in Ancient Egypt.

When Women Ruled the World by Kara Cooney

It's a bit Mormon (a lot Mormon) but I really enjoyed Stone Tables by Orson Scott Card which is a retelling of the story of Moses' early life and flight from Egypt.

It's worth reading the preface which puts the Mormon beliefs about the old testament into some perspective.

(Fwiw I am not at all religious but I still got a lot out of the book)

Not sure if you are after fiction or non fiction but I thought "the book of two ways" was excellent!

What channel was the program on please @Taytocrisps

Channel 4 and was repeated on 4Seven. Well worth a catch up.

Bit old fashioned now but Wilbur Smith writes so amazing books about Egypt. The Seventh Scroll was my favourite book for years!

The Red Tent is partly set in biblical era Egypt.

I remember loving all the books by Christian Jacq as a teenager and thinking I was learning loads about ancient Egypt. But maybe they're actually a bit rubbish and historically inaccurate, I don't know. Like the Mills and Boon of ancient Egyptian literature
