Have set myself the challenge of reading the Women’s prize longlist this year. Currently embarking on Pod.
Anyone else read it?

Is that by Lalinne Paul? If so, yes, I enjoyed it but not as much as her first book.

Yes, that’s the one. Haven’t read her first one.
I am finding this one hard going. Not sure what I expected but certainly isn’t what I am getting. Will keep going.

It has a very slow start and does get better. But, her first one was amazing! I'd read that instead 😂

Really don’t want to DNF but I might!

No but following!

Just over half way through.
Flipping heck! This is brutal!

In case anyone is following - finished the book.
It was hard work and as I said before brutal. Felt a bit like homework and if I hadn't set myself the challenge of reading the longlist I would have given up on this one.

Now on to The Bandit Queens which so far is very good.

That's a good description! It was a bit of a slog. What is The Bandit Queens about?

toomanybooksnotenoughtime · 12/04/2023 21:31

It's about a woman in an Indian village whose husband has disappeared and everyone suspects she has killed him.
About half way through and it is brilliantly written and very funny
