I fancy watching some of these, any recommendations?

I can't stand vlogs, I'd rather read a blog which allows me to skim read and quickly assess if I have similar tastes. But in that rather dismissive sentence is a truth, finding a vlogger with similar taste to you is important. There's no point watching a video about Japanese Romances if you like Nordic Crime.

I watch a fair bit of Book Tube-those who don't have lights, bells and whistles and the energy of teenagers.

Miranda Mills reads a wide selection and she also likes vintage. She hosts a bookclub once a month with her mum and sometimes includes videos of their life in Yorkshire. Very gentle.

Big Haired Bookworm is a woman living in East Anglia. Very chatty-reads a lot of crime.

Red Dot Reads is an English woman living in Singapore. She reads very widely.

Book in with Debra-a woman living in Yorkshire who likes international fiction but also reads widely.

Amelia Barlow Books-another Yorkshire woman with a wide reading range

They are my favourites. Miranda Mills has about 20,000 subscribers but the others have much less-between 1 and 3 000 I think.

I watch Miranda Mills too. Her vlogs are always interesting and I like that she doesn't push new books all the time.

Others I like are Getting Hygge With It, Lauren And The Books, and Jen Campbell.

DivaDarling · 29/03/2023 19:16

I have watched Lauren and Jen but Lauren is way too loud for me and, although Jen has some interesting things to say, I can't help feeling that her books are often chosen with a political rather than literary agenda and that doesn't always suit me. I'm in a minority though as her channel is pretty big!

Yes, I agree with you about Miranda.

I forgot some - Literary Diversions. Lianne has some very strong opinions about books, done with lots of humour. She's very likeable, with added cats.

Drinking By My Shelf, although she's not posted any videos recently. I believe she's been ill.

What Victoria Read. She's a secondary school English teacher and her reviews are well thought through. And there's cats here too.

I like Literary Diversions too. I tried Drinking by My Shelf but her vocal fry really irritated me!

Have you tried Your True Shelf- a female GP based in England who makes very honest review videos with some lifestyle content-she has a young family and The Book Castle-I think she might be Danish - gives good reviews and reads a really good range?

I'm glad it's not just me who watches Booktubers-I do get good recommendations on there and they're just nice to watch-usually 15/20 minutes of gentle living!
