No, I didn't know one had been made. Nine times out of ten these sorts of films are no good. And today they are usually full of woke rubbish and sneering digs at Britain's past. I'd rather read the novels.

Yes, it’s awful. Makes up loads about her life that there’s no evidence for. The scenery is nice but that’s about it.

I listened to an interview and review on rhe Mark Kermode podcast. If I remember rightly, he liked it - but he was coming at it purely from the film angle rather than as a lover of the Brontes and their work.

I didn't fancy the sound of it.

Yes, well, that's likely why it was rated so well on the Rotten Tomatoes site.

I've seen most of it and disliked it. It's a largely fictionalised account and I kind of think if that's the story they wanted to tell, fine, but leave the Brontes' names out of it, instead of hanging this weak story onto their genius and reputations. It does Charlotte dirty too, and suggests Emily could only write Wuthering Heights off the back of her own sexual experience rather than a very powerful imagination.

I saw the film. I liked the clothes, ambience etc. The supposed affair with that curate was twaddle, I expect.
