Help me find! 80s/90s YA horror set in the 60s with murders

I don't think it was a Point Horror book because Point Horror got banned at our school so we all ended up reading very similar things to PH.
This was probably written in the late 80s or early 90s and it was set in the 1960s. There was a strong hippy and flower power theme throughout the book, with descriptions of tie dye clothes.
It was about four friends, two male and two female, and I think they were travelling around America in a flower power painted van. I think the van broke down and they ended up walking through the middle of nowhere and found an old hotel which had hardly any other guests there (or no other guests).
One by one the young people were murdered, and there was one description of a body floating in the hot tub or hotel pool.
Did anyone else read this?!

No but it sounds like Scooby Do!

Was it maybe a Christopher Pike book? He churned out loads of teen horror books in the 1980s.

Ha! I suppose it does sound like Scooby Do!

I'm not sure that it's Christopher Pike. None of that really looks or sounds familiar.
