Do you jump straight into another book or wait a bit??

Just that really.

I finished Becoming by Michelle Obama at around 1pm and I've picked up another book to start reading and I can't get into it.

I was thinking if I should take a break or keep searching my bookshelf for a different book (I have over 530 so I have a lot of choice lol)

Just got me wondering if other readers jump straight into another book or wait a few days lol

I wait until the next day. I think of it as a superstition of mine.

I'm usually reading two or three books at once, so it's kind of jumping straight in but also overlapping. But yes, once I have finished a book I either start paying more attention to one of the others I am reading or start another one straight away.

I try to pace myself to finish a book just before I go to sleep as I like to ruminate on it as I doze off.
If I can't do that then I'll start a new one straight away.

@FineThings I always admire people who can read more than one book at once. I can't see how I'd manage that 🤣🤣

I jump straight into another book, but sometimes alternate between fiction and crime fiction. However I can also be reading up to three books at once too.

I’m a one book at a time reader who jumps straight into the next one usually.

I tend to find my next book straight away.

I usually have to wait a day or two after a good book.

I have a few on the go at any one time .. I have been wading through one book for at least a couple of years .

I always have books overlapping.

I start a new one straight after unless I finish fairly late at night. No way would I wait a few days to start a new book, how would I pass the time on the loo??

I start reading a new book straight away. I sometimes have the books on the go if I'm reading one in another language as well as one in English (I'm a languages teacher so I can read in several).

I usually have one fiction and one non fiction on the go, and then go straight into another after, god bless kindle unlimited!

I've usually got about 4 or 5 different books on the go at the same time so never really been a thing for me!

Wow that's impressive. I feel very rubbish now only being able to handle one at a time lol

Lol, I'm not sure it's a good habit, but one on the Kindle, one in the bathroom, one in a handbag, one by the sofa......if it's a good one then it gets carried from room to room until it's finished!

The gap between books is the minute or two that it takes me to choose which book to start next. The idea of not having a book on the go actually makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. If I left it for two or three days, what would I read during that time?

It depends what I've just finished reading and what time I finish it.

I try not to read 2 books of the same genre straight after each other.

I try to stick to one book at a time although I've currently got 3 on the go!

When I've finished one, I like to try and wait till the next day to start a new one. Don't always manage this and not really sure why I even try to. 🤔

I only tend to have one on the go at a time, which is weird in a way because I manage to follow lots of different drama shows on the tv all at the same time, well lot literally watching several tellies at one

I feel exactly the same. I've just finished a book. I'm going to the library in the morning to get the next in the series, but I'll start another book tonight as an 'in between' book. I can't bear the thought of having nothing to read tonight.

I jump straight in even if I am really tired as for some reason I hate going to sleep without having a book on the go!

My husband is the opposite and to some extent deliberately times it so that he finishes a book just before going to sleep.

So of my sample of two, both approaches are equally popular!

When I finish a book I tend to sulk for a while and find it hard to start the next one

I have to wait! I get a bit obsessed when reading and hate finishing a good book as it's all I think about haha!
