I need to get off my phone and want to start reading again. I start maternity leave in February and don't want to be glued to my phone and need to find something to pass the time. I used to read fantasy but I want something completely different. I am also a mum to a 2 year old so thinking a funny yet real book about parenting. Anyone read Winging It and would recommend? Any recommendations appreciated

I have t read the one you asked about but the Why Mummy Drinks series by Gill Sims is very funny.

If you want the opposite of fantasy, how about a travel book? I love Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London, for example, and also Patrick Fermor's stuff.

Is there any particular reason you aren't interested in fantasy anymore? I know a LOT of people who were in the same boat and read A Court of Thorn and Roses and loved it, and now have read the whole series!

Books about parenting that are definitely out of the norm for that genre - Anne Lamott, Operating Instructions and Rachel Cusk, A Life's Work. Lamott is funny but serious, Cusk is serious. Both have written other books so you might get led to read further.
Also, because she's just died and everything she wrote was about women - anything by Fay Weldon, who is wickedly funny and a shit hot feminist and vastly entertaining all in one.
Have fun. It's good to read!
