I’d like to track down this book as a Christmas present for someone but can’t for the life of me remember the author’s name or the title.
Plot synopsis - a middle-aged couple, who live in suburban London, meet an older woman and her daughter, whilst they’re all on holiday at the seaside (possibly overseas). They eventually become the older woman’s carers (she moves in with them). They manage to cut her off from the outside world (make her believe she’s infirm etc.) and eventually she dies (I think). (A cheery, Christmas read 😬.)
it’s not a recent publication - written in the 60s or 70s perhaps.
Thanks for any help in identifying it.
