Novels for DS's 30 year old female old partner?

I read a LOT but I'm struggling to know what might appeal to my son's partner.
My middle aged tastes might not be her!

She's Chinese and has lived in the UK for around 10 years after coming here for uni.

I'm thinking about somethings that may have a historical element of UK culture - Hamnet in on my list. She's quite thoughtful and def won't be into anything chick lit-y.

I don't think Sally Rooney would be her cup of tea. Wondering about the new Kate Atkinson - any other ideas?

What about a nice edition of a Jane Austen, has she read those? I know a few Chinese people who love Jane Austen.

Possibly although some of the 'English' humour may be lost on her.
