It’s that time of the year again with the hidden books game. I’ve got 5/20 so far and still going. So happy to chat about it.

Oh FFS, got the 'read me' one!

Only need stopped / open heart now.

CryCeratops · 10/11/2022 16:29

@TattiePants you’ve almost got it if you rearrange those words

I need read me, music arrow bow heel book and yellow blue peeling ?

Be gentle I’m full of sickness … so please put me out of my misery.

I have the arrow one now last too! Eek 😥

TattiePants · 10/11/2022 16:30

@AnneKipankitoo look at the order of the Life books, one comes after another.

Look at the pattern on the woman's dress and it's not her socks but a very specific part of her foot (think Greek mythology).

AnneKipankitoo · 10/11/2022 16:30

1 to go . The 2 books of Life .

AnneKipankitoo · 10/11/2022 16:31

Thanks Tattie! Just got that one as you posted . Will try the 2 books one in a mo .

I've tried pressure, compel, coerce, force....

Not quite so forceful. A classic.

TattiePants · 10/11/2022 16:33

@CryCeratops thanks, I'm done. I own or have read about 60% of these so it shouldn't have been that hard!

AnneKipankitoo · 10/11/2022 16:34

Thanks Tattie. Completed it now.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/11/2022 16:34

Thanks for all the clues. I've only got the children playing cards and the yellow peel one left.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/11/2022 16:35

Oh! The cards one was so obvious when I clicked on it.

SlayB · 10/11/2022 16:36

So read me and peeling paper clues ?

so many classics time for a rhyme or sounds like please 🙏🏻

MavisChunch29 · 10/11/2022 16:37

Finally got Read Me. Thank you!

It's just one word - noun, meaning a gentle version of some of the words I posted above.

TattiePants · 10/11/2022 16:39

@CaptainMyCaptain and @SlayB the peeling paper - what colour is it and what could they have used to decorate the side of the desk that would now be peeling?

SlayB · 10/11/2022 16:47

Got reading one …
the peeling one someone said is about a woman going crazy in a room.

a clue on the author might help as my meno brain is fried !

I'd never heard of it but thanks. I've got them all now.

SlayB · 10/11/2022 16:51

Phew I got it. Thanks all, was quite hard this year !

TattiePants · 10/11/2022 16:53

@SlayB the author isn't well know unless you've read one of her books - late Victorian feminist who mainly wrote short stories. It is about a woman stuck in a room and if she looked around the room at the four walls all she would see is ........

km21 · 10/11/2022 16:54

Finished at last. That was a real stretch at times. Thanks to all who helped with clues and good luck everyone

Melisande90 · 10/11/2022 16:56

Got them all at last! Thanks everyone for the clues. Some were so difficult but I enjoyed it. Thanks OP for the thread as I wouldn’t have known about this little game 🥰

InMySpareTime · 10/11/2022 16:56

@SlayB first name of the author is same as a Brontë
Second is an old Bake-off presenter
Third sounds like a person with the ability to breathe like a fish.

wellmadecake · 10/11/2022 16:56

Apple slice? I cannot get this one. Any help?

JaninaDuszejko · 10/11/2022 16:57

Got them all now after some help on here for 'read me' and the ladder and Eve and the two bad puns. I'm definitely improving year on year though thanks to you lot.

InMySpareTime · 10/11/2022 16:57

@wellmadecake what do you take off the apple? It's not a load of that, just one.

JaninaDuszejko · 10/11/2022 16:58

wellmadecake · 10/11/2022 16:56

Apple slice? I cannot get this one. Any help?

It's not a slice, look at what's on the table beside the plate.
