There was a series of books about a group of children who lived near Sherwood Forest, and were mad keen Robin Hood fans. I think perhaps they called themselves the Sherwood Forest club or something similar. They were always talking about Lincoln Green, and the Robin Hood tree appeared frequently.
There was a whole series of them, and for some reason I've got fixed in my mind the author was Geoffrey Palmer, but I think that this may be a false memory due to the actor. Maybe not, I've no idea.
I was given the first book as an academic prize at school, so I think that the writer was probably considered to be of a reasonable standard and since I was in Australia, was probably fairly well known. Unfortunately, we had a fire in the house when I was in my 20s, and many things like this that I had kept disappeared.
I have done many Google searches and cannot come with anything, so I suppose it's one of those things that have now gone out of print. Does anyone have any idea of who the author might be? I even searched people like Geoffrey Trease, which is obviously wrong.
Thanks very much.
