What book did I read? About a tennis family of brilliant tall people but the adult children are realising that there's something off about their parents?

I think it may have been set in Australia?
I remember thinking the mother was brilliantly written - not terribly likable, but so well written.
The parents were tennis coaches and the children had all shown promise but now the parents had retired? And the adult children are all in a cafe comparing notes on what they remember about something that happened? And maybe there was a murder? Or... the dad did something? There was some dark undertone to it all.

I wonder if hordes of sleepless mumsnetters are doing the same, I googled book about tall tennis players and it was about the 4th result which presumably I wasnt when @PrunellaMcTat googled

I like Line Moriarty and have added it to my wishlist, she might b wondering why it's shot up the search rankings 😀

I like Leanne Moriarty too!
They're not too taxing, but they're well written.

I love The Husband's Secret. and What Alice Forgot. And I enjoyed the tennis one too - despite forgetting it!

The only one I didn't love was Nine Perfect Strangers.

I picked up Truly Madly Guilty at the charity shop yesterday and am already enjoying it.

I’m reading this book as we speak. Is it worth persevering with? I’m finding it a bit slow at the minute…..

Snowberry3 · 30/09/2022 06:34

I found the Apples disappointing. Seemed an unlikely story. And some characters were irritating.

PrunellaMcTat · 30/09/2022 06:41

Yes, I think it was a bit slow, now you come to mention it.

I agree about Nine Perfect Strangers, I didn't really enjoy it and The Husband Secret, I stayed up late reading that on more then one might

They've made 9 Perfect Strangers into a TV series. Starts this week i think.
