Just finished this. It was just ok IMO.
A few questions .....

  1. What actually happened to Dee and Lulu?
  2. Who were the “green boys”?
  3. Why was the word “row” always in italics?

I hated this, have managed to block most of it from my memory so don't know any of the answers to your questions.
(I really hated it)

Read this quite recently but can't remember the green boys.

I thought the word 'row' was a cat noise like miaow or purr.

I think Dee was responsible for Lulu's accident in the water. She could her but was too busy with the boy she'd met. And then Ted's mum killed her

Framboisery · 29/08/2022 11:12

Sorry that end bit should say 'should have been watching her'.

BaconAndAvocado · 01/09/2022 01:33

Framboisery I thought Lulu killed herself by falling onto a rock after a snake had bitten her (whilst Dee was with the boy).??

Thats probably right. Can't remember the details. But I thought perhaps she could have been saved if Dee had been watching her.
And I thought Ted's mum had taken her body.

Yes I think you’re right re Dee not watching her but I must have forgotten the bit about Ted’s mum taking her. God, she was disturbed!

Dee goes into the woods to have a bit of fun with the boy, tells Lulu to stay by the lake. Baby snake bites Lulu who falls and hits head against rock. Dee leaves Lulu there to die but Ted's mum finds her first (she thinks Lulu is a boy because of the short hair) and subjects her to abuse, then buries the body at neighbours house.

No idea about the green boys

I think I'm the same. I have it 1 star on goodreads

I know this is an old thread sorry but jumping on it as started similar one myself and it's disappeared!

I also would like to know why the mum fed them baby food?

And why did Dee see the backpack twitching when Ted was setting off to the woods?

Found this book sooo confusing - the writing style almost gave me a headache.
