Romance books with older/menopausal women?

I love reading romance books, mainly historical (Georgian/regency seems to be the mainstay, but also read other periods in history), with flirtation/sensual/sex scenes in them and a mystery/intrigue story line too.

However, many of them have the female lead character somewhere in their 20s. Does anyone know of any with older women in?

The Idea of Perfection by Kate Grenville and Thin Air by Sue Gee are both worth a read. Oh, and there's a plotline within The Shipping News by E Annie Proulx, about falling in love when you're not young and beautiful. It's a brilliant book in any case.

The Lido
Away with the Penguins
Mrs Benson Beetles

Not necessarily romances but the main protagonist in each of them is an older woman.

Definitely the Outlander series. The main “heroine” is young initially, but the books cover a lifetime, and for many of them the characters are much more mature. Would definitely recommend them and the historical setting is 18thC so a good lead up to Georgian etc.

I’ve just reread your OP after posting my previous reply and you really must look into outlander books! It’s like you’ve just described the exact scenario for the ideal reader.
