Anyone listen to this very interesting 30 minutes of Hilary Mantel taking to Michael Rosen about writing but in particular writing the Wolf Hall trilogy. She talks about her use of language and how she has used it in her writing.

I have to say I haven't read a book since Wolf Hall that has made me stop and just put the book down after reading certain sentences. Wolf Hall in particular had some beautiful lines.

Anyway just thought I'd share in case anyone would be interested in listening. It's on the BBC Sounds app.

Thank you, I will have a listen. Love her work.
Have you read A Place of Greater Safety? Also excellent.

I have indeed, absolutely loved it. Thinking of rereading it over the summer.

I just finished Beyond Black a while ago and I really enjoyed that as well. It wouldn't be my normal go to for a topic (woman who gets messages from beyond the grave) but there is a dark comedy in it that I did enjoy especially in the character Colette. Although the relationship between the main character & her mother is hard to read about. She certainly has a way with sentences.

Ooh, thanks for the heads-up. She is a fascinating talker.
