I’m not much of a reader but my cousin is going to rehab and has asked if I know any easy read feel good romances? She’s only read a couple of books in her life too so needs to be something light easy and engaging. Any ideas? Tia x

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

If historical, then Courtney Milan.

Contemporary I always really liked Melissa Nathan. A couple of them were based on Jane Austen, so solid stories, but the retelling was so so good - literate, beautifully done. She died tragically young and I am sad that her career was cut so short because she was a real talent. They're on Kindle at £1.99. More than worth it.

Katie Fforde is very easy to read romance type stuff.

Christina Jones writes some very gentle Ron com books which are quite short as well.

I've enjoyed Sophie Cousens' books, think they'd fit the bill

Freya North?

Id suggest Katie Fforde, Veronica Henry or Beth O'Leary for easy feel good romance. Beth O'Leary is funny too.

Head over Heels by Jill Mansell is utter chewing gum for the brain, basically a rom-com on paper.

StellaAndCrow · 01/04/2022 13:03

Trisha Ashley, a gentle village romance series, don't make you think too much.
Jenny Colgan - I really liked one about moving to Scotland and starting a travelling bookshop

The Hating Game

Some steamy bits too

The Morning Gift by Eva Ibbotson. Just lovely

Robyn Carr's Virgin River series? Though not sure as you said she is in rehab? There are drug and alcohol references.

I had enjoyed a few of them and now treated myself to the whole lot from Amazon!

My guilty secret as no one is supposed to know I read romance!!!

It's all over the Daily Mail now Grin

Boldwood Books have a big stable of authors writing unstressful romances with happy endings. Usually in a pretty village setting in the Yorkshire moors or by the sea. Surprisingly not twee either.

Harriet Evans is great. I also love Patricia Scanlan's earlier books - City Girl, Foreign Affairs, Apartment 3B etc.

The Love Hypothesis- is just the most feel good romance I’ve read in forever, bought because we’re selling one a day nearly in here!! Also (and I’m sorry in advance because I love the genre, write it and work in a bookshop!) Note to self by Anna Bell, anything by Katie Ginger, Jaimie Adman’s, Jane Linfoot or Rebecca Pugh, T A Williams, Victoria Cooke or Laura Briggs for rom com/chick lit and Christie Bartlow, B R Maycock or Fiona Gibson if you want mum type chick lit (Sorry again!!!)

VanCleefArpels · 03/08/2022 11:51

London, With Love is lovely. Very similar feel to One Day. In fact any David Nichols fits the bill.

ODFOx · 03/08/2022 12:30

I've been enjoying the Bridgerton novels as escapist easy reads recently. I'd recommend them.

Yviebeth Bardug is a new author, you can try that, it is a light romance based on London and Edinburgh, love it and I am trying to support new starting writers. There is also Nora Roberts, she is well established American author who writes a lot about Ireland, all her books are romances. Iliana Andrews is another good one, this is a couple that write together.

Devo1818 · 24/08/2022 07:58

Anything by Colleen Hoover or Taylor Jenkins Reid

CrispsnDips · 24/08/2022 21:00

Love Carole Matthews 👍🏼😊
