Love a good whodunnit and have always meant to try an AC but just never got round to it.

Where should I start?

Death on the Nile is probably my favourite Smile Also love Evil Under the Sun. Am a bit jealous you're getting to read them for the first time!

BaconAndAvocado · 20/02/2022 17:01

Thank you Anatomical I think they’re Poirot aren’t they?

Will try and read before I see the film!

Looking back to my teens I think I may have read an AC book in the Tuppence and Tommy Series? It was televised in the 80s and I thought it was very glam!

Oh, fancy having the whole lot to try!

Murder on the Orient express is still one of the best.

I love Miss Marple though (could watch the old films for hours).

BestIsWest · 20/02/2022 17:05

Definitely agree with the poster above. Evil under the Sun is my favourite. Death on the Nile or Murder on the Orient Express. Prefer Poirot to Marple. The Mirror Crack’d is my fav Marple.

suckingonchillidogs · 20/02/2022 17:08

Crooked House is my favourite

Pacidove · 20/02/2022 17:10

I'm a sucker for chronology, The Mysterious Affair at Styles is a brilliant place to start

Trisolaris · 20/02/2022 17:13

And then there were none is my favourite. With Poirot I would start chronologically with ‘The mysterious affair at styles’ as a great introduction to the characters.

steppemum · 20/02/2022 17:35

this is actually terrifying. Most of them are entertainment, but this one was a true thriller!
Paranoidandroidmarvin · 20/02/2022 21:38

And then there were none is hands down my favourite book ever. I have the audiobook. The okay audiobook and the wonderful adaption they did. Did I mention it’s my fav?

NewcastleOrBust · 20/02/2022 21:41

I love And Then there were None. And a Mirror Cracked.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 20/02/2022 21:47

I agree go chronological.

But the best is the death of roger ackroyd

Crackercrazy · 24/02/2022 19:51

I also like Crooked House. But there’s so much to choose from! I find the Miss Marple books slightly darker than Poirot, but still good.

And then there were none is also creepy!

There’s also the short-stories too with Poirot (these have been televised) and Miss Marple.

WildImaginings · 24/02/2022 19:54

'And then there were none' is one of my favourite books ever.

'The Mirror Crack'd' is another good one.

thistimelastweek · 24/02/2022 20:04

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 24/02/2022 20:16

Cat Among the Pigeons is my favourite.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/02/2022 13:07

Thanks everyone.
Looking forward to starting with The Mysterious Affair at Styles soon.

The one that really stayed with me was Sleeping Murder. I think it's why I hate dentists going in my mouth with gloves on.

ABitBesotted · 25/02/2022 23:18

I adore all of them, esp Poirot and And The There Were None, but my favourite is an odd and atmospheric one told from the point of view of a 20-something-year-old man, Endless Night.

ABitBesotted · 25/02/2022 23:19

Abc murders is my favourite Poirot

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2022 23:20

If you like Tommy and Tuppence you need to read The Secret Adversary.

MrsBerthaRochester · 07/03/2022 14:56

Im obsessed with Agatha christie. My favourite is By the pricking of my thumbs which is a Tommy and Tuppence one. Actually I might have two favourites as I also adore Nemesis.
Also love Cat amongst the pigeons, Murder at the Vicarage and N or M.

I'd agree with your other choices but not keen on By The Pricking of My Thumbs. I do like the Tommy and Tuppence short stories though!
HamSandwichKiller · 07/03/2022 19:27

I'm watching the old Joan Hickson Marples at the moment. Love. Pocketful of Rye and Nemesis are fabulous.

Roger Ackroyd is pretty pedestrian other than the one famous element tbh.

I read passenger from Frankfurt recently and enjoyed. The ABC murders is one of my favourites.

Westernstar · 07/03/2022 19:29

I love the Mr Quinn stories. They are short stories and really odd.

eddiemairswife · 08/03/2022 14:03

And Then There Were None had a (now forbidden) different title when I first read it.
