I remember reading this over and over when I was little but can't remember the author. Details are a little vague but it's in Switzerland and is quite sentimental, does any one know it?

Great book lemonice - looks like Jude has the right one, well it's the only one that sprung to mind, can't think of another.

Yes that must be it. I'll have to get it now and hope it lives up to expectations - I'm surprised it suggests age 9 up as I think I was younger than that. It's a good read for those who want a reminder of the less commercial side of Christmas.
