I haven't been so distraught at the end of a book since reading One Day.

Maybe... I hadn't thought of it.
My current next-read plan is to read Arundhati Roy's The Ministry of Utmost Happiness because someone gave it to me. But I haven't yet read her first book The God of Small Things and I'm wondering if TMOUM is a sequel. I don't suppose you've read either of them?

I don't know if it's a sequel but TGOSM is a highly excellent read, loved it.

I’m halfway through this book and so upset by it. Rarely don’t finish a book, but I’m struggling with the cruelty. Feel that by not finishing it, it won’t make the terribleness any easier!

It does NOT get any better after half way! Maybe read to the part where it seems a bit happier and stop there

It doesn’t get better, throw it out and get something nice to read to reset your head.
