Anyone want to help me with some summary one liners?

In short, we have a family quizz every year (usually about 20 people) and it’s my turn “to put this together. I’m going to put a literary round together of very short funny summaries of well known books so e.g Man v Whale. Whale wins. (Moby Dick).

Have found a few online like the one above but am really lacking a bit of creativity & imagination at the moment! Can anyone come up with anything inspired?!

Large footed friends go on quest for jewellery… Lord of the Rings

Italian art lover discovers hidden relic…
The Da Vinci Code

Life of a small boy that has a sweet ending… Charlie and the chocolate factory

Sorry my knowledge of books isn’t very highbrow! Which sort of books were you after? Things like Dickens or more popular modern books?

Honestly, the audience will be everyone from 13 year olds (DD), in laws who don’t read that much through to English Grads (DH & my nephew) so trying to come up with something for everyone which is a headache! Thanks for the above - the LOTR one in particular is great!

There’s the famous TV guide to the Wizard if Oz:

“Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.”

Ah @Whohashiddenthebiscuits that’s going to be tough to find something that everyone knows! Guessing 50 shades of grey is out of the question for the 13 year old then!

Trying to think of a good one for Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone maybe “11 year old catches schooltrain from odd station”

Lion witch and wardrobe- “children get stuck in cold cupboard until they find Father Christmas”

This is a man’s world, served by women with a plan - a handmaids tale, maybe a little too lighthearted Grin

Old Macdonald can’t contain these rebellious beasts set on equality - animal farm
