Hello! Some of you may have seen this floating around Facebook and my boyfriend and I have decided to do it instead of presents this year, since we are also going away together for a few days between Christmas and New Year. 🤗📚🍫

I’d like to get him something christmassy in one way or another, but his favourite genres are crime, horror and thriller. He also sometimes likes a bit of a mystical or fantasy theme but not all out dragons and fairies 😆

Any ideas?! I am struggling!

I'd recommend anything by Peter James

PARunnerGirl · 17/11/2021 23:00

Thanks @AutumnAnn. Do you recall if any of them have a winter or Christmas setting?

There are lots of Christmas crime short story anthologies.

BIWI · 18/11/2021 10:43

I Googled 'Christmas crime thriller books' and loads came up!

BIWI · 18/11/2021 10:44

There's even a 4-book series

MrsFoxyplease · 18/11/2021 10:48

I have a one called 'A very murderous Christmas'. It's good.

PARunnerGirl · 18/11/2021 21:50

Me too @BIWI! But I was hoping to get some recommendations from people who have read and would recommend something 🤞🏼

@elkiedee Any recommendations of ones you’ve read or heard are good?

Thanks @MrsFoxyplease ! Is it short stories? Sometimes he says he doesn’t like short stories but I know that he has actually enjoyed short story collections in the past!

The Haunting Season by Bridget Collins et al is a winter themed collection of short ghost stories - very atmospheric!

PARunnerGirl · 18/11/2021 22:01

@ChrisPriss This could be it!!! Thank you! ❄️ 👻 🌌

Sorry Hmm

You could always read the reviews on the website?

Apologies for trying to be helpful. You did say you were struggling ...

Look at NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son). Horror, with a slight fantasy aspect, where the horror lies in a trip to Christmasland...

Hercule Poirot's Christmas is a great read!
