I'm half way through, really plodding through it as TBH nothing is happening. Does it get better?

Yes! It’s very good. I’m a huge Liane Moriarty fan. Have you read others by her?

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/07/2021 22:05

Yes I loved Big Little Lies and the Husbands Secret.

I'm at the bit where they're on the plane, I feel it's a little slow

I like Liane Moriarty’s book but this was possibly the least enjoyable for me. It’s certainly not at dramatic as the two you mentioned. I loved the Husband’s Secret.

Nine Perfect Strangers went a bit weird for me and there’s another one involving 3 sisters that I particularly liked but I can’t remember the title.

Three wishes. It was one of her best. Really loved it and some poignant scenes I remember well.

Also agree on the strangers one. It absolutely was off, I’m still not sure why. Made me feel slightly disoriented and wonky - perhaps on purpose.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/07/2021 22:22

What Alice Forgot was the one that got to me the most. I hadn’t long been divorced.

Ulysses · 06/07/2021 22:24

There’s a film version of Nine Perfect Strangers coming out with Nicole Kidman. I think it might work well on screen for some reason.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/07/2021 22:25

Ooh!

And I see there’s a new book coming this year.

I really love her work.

Did anyone find Truly Madly Guilty felt like 3 completely separate stories?

Ulysses · 06/07/2021 22:36

It’s an 8 part TV series not a film. I wonder if it’s set in Australia or the US?

I read Truly Madly Guilt too but can’t remember that. I always love the settings that she writes about. They’re quite glossy. I haven’t read What Alice Forgot but do intend to.

ElderMillennial · 06/07/2021 22:42

I liked it. I've enjoyed all of her books.

Can't remember how the book ended though.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/07/2021 22:42

TMG was the old man, the couple with two young daughters and cellist mum, the best friend and a man called Vid.

Alice is really gorgeous. Sent me down a path of serious introspection Grin

Sorry OP, mad derailing. Stick with HLS, I liked it.

There were stairs…

Oh bloody hell @AnneLovesGilbert talk about obvious 😭

Oh god, what did I do?!

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/07/2021 23:00

Hinted heavily at the ending of the hypnotists book 🤣

I hope someone pushes the bloke down the stairs he's getting on my wick

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/07/2021 23:04

Ah. Well you’ll have to wait and see! Grin

He has his moments, yes. But people are complex, especially in her books. No one is truly good and most characters are pleasingly a bit flawed.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/07/2021 23:08

Yes she does complex very well!

I pretty much think the bloke is a prick but also have moments of "aaaaah what a nice chap". It was the same with the Husband's Secret. I couldn't decide if I liked half the characters or not!
