It was a recommended book in a newspaper recently and I got it on my kindle.
I don't think I'm half way through and am struggling to read it, which is a shame. In fact I've put it to the side and started something else.
I went onto the amazon book reviews other reviews yesterday and see that my observations about the limitations of the book are mirrored there, too. Wish I'd read them first.
Trying to analyse why it isn't holding my attention, I think there is a couple of issues. One is that it is probably a bit too much "torture porn" for my liking and it is somewhat unrelenting. Two is that the characters are not well drawn enough to capture my interest. I am not compelled to read further to find out what happens.
Isn't it strange how some books capture your attention and you can't put them down? Others, are just 'meh'.
