Oh sweet summer child that I am, I. Desperate for Winds of Winter to be released. O have read all the released chapters and think that the Alayne chapter is the most promising (for all it's surface sugariness there are lots of ominous foreshadowings that I can see).

What are everyone's expectations for the new book? Leaving the show behind as I can see they're going to be different in details of not in general arcs.

It'll be too long and too slow with a host of side characters and not enough forward-moving plot...but I'm still really looking forward to it. Sigh.

I actually prefer the side characters thing, as before the TV show it meant you didn't know who'd survive. Now it's pretty obvious who has plot armour.

I'm looking forward to reading about events in Dorne, The Free Cities and the Vale as they were largely missing from the show.

My main prediction is that he'll never finish the series ;)

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 04/04/2021 19:08

Yeah, it'll never be finished.

Strangeststrangment · 04/04/2021 19:09

Nooooo!

I don't think he'll finish it sadly. In fairness, I don't envy him trying to complete the books with the tv series at the back of his mind.

BuffyTheSlavishIdeologySlayer · 16/04/2021 13:22

He's got to be nearly done with Winds at least. I can forsee the series not being finished, but surely Winds is nearly done?

If it were me I'd want to correct the awful choices made by the TV series. I'd be going for Danny being thwarted by Arianne/Aegon alliance.

I was a fan of the books and the tv series until the last tv series. After that I couldn’t care less if he writes another book. It’s over.

SJaneS49 · 19/04/2021 15:36

Anyone else get fed up with the characters moving in endless geographical circles and almost but not quite bumping in to each other?

I’ll read it but I’m not especially excited.

CassandraCursed · 19/04/2021 15:57

Tyrion's journey is the worst for that. I'm not sure where he'll end up seeing as he's a much more grey character than the show presents.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 23/04/2021 11:42

Everyone dies and the dire-wolves take over the land. The end.

He’s going to die before the book is finished and we will be stuck with how the TV show finished as the ending. Depressing but likely.
