I'm almost finished. This is brilliant, best book I've read in ages.

Someonesayroadtrip · 11/11/2020 23:11

Are you going go tell us what it was about?

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2020 23:15

A school under siege but how the teachers and students all deal with it. With a load of action in it too. And refugees.
I need a lie down.
I do have a question if anyone has read it.

OP posts:
MairzyDoats · 11/11/2020 23:17

No, but thank you, I'm going to order it!

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2020 23:18

Like I say perfect twists but not a book that spends its entire time leading up to the one big twist which is getting boring.
In fact one of the twists for me was a sort of anti twist, don't want to say too much.
I am not the author! If I were id write better

Was 99p when I bought it. Knowing what I know now I'll pay more for er other books. But tbh I need something lighter for a little while.

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2020 23:19

Please come back when you've read it in about four hours

Stygimoloch · 11/11/2020 23:20

I hadn’t heard of it either but it looks great and has fantastic reviews.

Thanks! I’ve ordered it. I needed something new.

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2020 23:21

I hadn't bothered with the reviews, for 99p I was willing to take the risk.
Sadly, although I will read her other books they don't appeal in the same way I will try them.

I had been thinking about whether to buy this - just bought Smile. I read one of Rosamund Lupton's other novels, Sister, earlier this year. It was brilliant. I loved it, it kept me thinking all the way through and I didn't guess the ending.

Far too many thrillers are weak and disappointing, with guessable twists and silly endings so it's a real pleasure to find a writer who writes well and doesn't disappoint.

FiveShelties · 12/11/2020 08:45

I loved it too and got on the recommendation of a poster on here. I have also read Sister which was excellent.

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2020 08:54

Five sheltie I have pmed you my question, hope that's OK. I hope your shelties are well (I'm the poster who usually asks for photos)

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2020 08:54

Based on the description sister didn't appeal but I will read it next

Someonesayroadtrip · 12/11/2020 09:31

Ok bought, I'm currently home schooling my lot but I'll try and get through it and get back to you.

bettbattenburg · 12/11/2020 10:23

I've just started it, it's good so far,

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2020 11:37

I've got this it's call three hours

OP posts:
RuthTopp · 12/11/2020 11:41

It's fairly short in page numbers. Its very hard to put down and very tense but well worth reading .

Saucery · 12/11/2020 11:42

For 99p I can’t say no! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2020 11:46

Very tense!

Ive just finished this - was meant to be working this morning but couldn't put it down! I've just posted this on another thread about it:

This is the first book that has genuinely properly moved me to tears. Like loud ugly unstoppable tears which took me unawares and came on suddenly. It's about a school siege so a very emotive subject. So powerful.

Kerzel · 12/11/2020 13:10

Loved this book when I read it during Lockdown 1. What’s your question?

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2020 14:55

Do NOT click on this thread if you've not read the book in full. CONTAINS SPOILERS
