MNHQ here: First ever live Zoom webchat with Professor Sarah Pedersen, on Thursday

Join us for our very first foray into Zoom webchats (don’t worry, you don’t have to appear on video) to chat with Professor Sarah Pedersen after the launch of her new publication The Politicization of Mumsnet (yes, with a z.)

It’s your chance to ask her questions about her research interests, her thoughts on Mumsnet: why it’s been successful, why women have used it as a place to talk - and why she believes it’s become “a forum for political discourse with a feminist overtone”.

The live webinar will take place on Thursday 12th November at 7.30pm GMT for one hour. Spaces are limited - it’s first come first served - so click here to find out more and sign up.

That was awesome, thanks @JustineMNHQ and Prof Pederson

PerkingFaintly · 12/11/2020 20:39

That was great! Thank you!

greyinganddecaying · 12/11/2020 20:43

Really enjoyed that - thanks!

HecatesCats · 12/11/2020 21:09

Sorry if this has been covered but will there be a link to a recording?

ArabellaScott · 12/11/2020 21:39

Enjoyed that despite my dodgy internet connection, thank you both/all!

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 13/11/2020 00:10

That was really good, thanks.

Bowednotbroken · 13/11/2020 06:12

Yes thanks everyone. Some really interesting thoughts there.

It felt as if - unlike in many of the usual webchats where politicians etc want to scurry past questions from FWR as quickly as they can - there was a sense of celebration of the feminist campaigners of MN and our fight for women. And that was absolutely lovely.

Totally agree Smile

I’m reading the book now & it’s riveting. Like reading history you were part of. FWR v WEP, all the MPs who came for webchats & wouldn’t / couldn’t define women...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/11/2020 09:26

I think there might be a link to a recording on YouTube.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/11/2020 09:26

Looking forward to reading the book!

I think there might be a link to a recording on YouTube.
There is!
TanteRose · 16/11/2020 11:37

Ooh brill! Will take a look Smile

The book was fantastic - really enjoyed looking back at some of the history of MN

TanteRose · 16/11/2020 13:27

Just watched the Zoom webchat - really enjoyed it!
One of the most interesting things in the book, and again on the webchat, was the fact that it was the men (as the less dominant group on MN) who tended to tone down their communication style (not swearing, avoiding some topics, etc)

Hope there can be more webchats like this Smile

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/11/2020 13:51

Thank you Empress for the link!

HecatesCats · 16/11/2020 17:35

Thanks for sharing Empress
