I read a book some years ago that was very disturbing, like a portrait of a psychopathic couple.
They were obsessively in love and had a child who got in the way of their life together and they basically left the baby in a cage and went away.
The story was told via multiple POVs IIRC; the couple, the police and social workers, psychologists.

It was very dark and upsetting but I remember it being well written. In retrospect it reminds me a bit of Lullaby by Leila Slimani.

Familiar to anyone?

Yes I read this. The plot was bloody awful but a gripping read.

@Pronounciata yes, that's the one. Very upsetting but compelling and well written, I thought. The only bits that didn't quite ring true for me were the chapters narrated by the couple - but I suppose that was always going to be challenging to write.

I haven't read it, but the plot reminds me of 'When she was bad' by Tammy Cohen.

Thanks, all yes, CT was a practicing psychoanalyst, I believe. V creepy and disturbing but well written.
Haven't heard of Tammy Cohen, will look into this
