I've always enjoyed John Irving but it is a fair few years since I read one of his books
I've just started this and it isn't grabbing me. The whole how Garp was conceived I find irritating
Does it get better?

I have read it but a fair few years ago and I don’t remember too much about it. It was the third John Irving I read (A Prayer for Owen Meaney and The Cider House Rules were the other two) and the one I liked the least.

Don’t really know if that’s any help!

I've read both of them. Loved both
Owen Meaney I thought should be a one off. I fear Garp may turn into an Owen Meany type character without the ending
