Looking for funny books basically.

NB Have read the Shopaholic series and I highly recommend for others.

‘The Tent, The Bucket and Me’ by Emma Kennedy.
Really funny. (But then I didn’t find Adam Kay at all funny.)

"Cooking with Fernet Branca" by James Hamilton-Paterson is probably the funniest book I have ever read. Not a cookery book by any stretch of the imagination but a hilarious tale of British ex-pats living in deepest Tuscany.

I didn't find "This Is Going To Hurt" funny at all. I thought it was deeply misogynistic and the kind of book that would the fear into any woman about how the NHS will treat her.

If you liked Shopaholic I’d recommend Heidi Swain or Veronica Henry books.

If you like medical memoirs (as you read Adam Kay I thought you might) Rachel Clark is worth reading.

I agree with Deeply absolutely. Thought it was a horrible book and the author comes across similarly in person.

Back to recommendations; anything by Bill Bryson, the Adrian Mole books, David Sedaris.

I second The Tent, The Bucket and Me. I literally wept with laughter. And anything by PG Wodehouse. Three Men in a Boat also hilarious.

You have definitely got to read this social worker's memoir - it's really hilarious and thought-provoking.

Thank you!!

I'm SICK of hearing people please this book. It was deeply misogynistic and downright scary that he thought about women this way. I'm glad he no longer practices.

I liked This is Going to Hurt. I’d maybe say for something similar-ish Jon Ronsons books. Completely different topics but a sort of similar style.

Thanks for that recommendation- I downloaded it earlier and have spent a pleasant afternoon laughing at it already!

Completely agree. I thought it was a really horrible insight into a misogynistic man's mind.

@Saucery, I'm so pleased!

Following (for funny books not Adam Kay!)

Gervase Phinn's books about being a school inspector are lovely. You need to find cute things kids say funny so they may not be everyone's cup of tea.

I'm a big fan of Adam Kay's book (black sense of humour), but can't think of anything equally funny OP.
GoodReads has a list with enticing titles:
Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea
The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo
I Know I Am, But What Are You?

How to Talk to a Widower (fiction) has some sharp humour, including one specific very funny scene in it. My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece is a kids book, but also has some very funny moments.

More fiction suggestions here.
