Books that make you feel more stupid as you read them

I treated myself to a book yesterday from waterstones. My first non-kindle book in ages! I've been really bad at reading lately so thought I'd ease back in with a supernatural crime type thriller called Ghost Virus. I don't really know what possessed me - even the title is crap.
Jesus christ though... Its the stupidest book I have read for a long time time; interspersed with hideous graphic gore that I just find myself skimming through. Stupid casual racism and clunky crass writing. At one point the police officer tries to ring his superior (an Asian woman) and she doesn't answer. He assumes she's gone out for a curry. OK.... I can literally feel my IQ decreasing as i continue but... I don't want to do housework.
Anyone found the same with other books??

I started reading "Olive" by Emma Gannon and had to request a Kindle refund after three pages. Biggest pile of badly written shite I've ever come across. Just embarrassing.

I get the BookBub daily list and there are titles on there which make me feel stupider, let alone reading an entire book!

Yes. The female eunuch by Germaine Greer. It’s a hard read. I get what she is trying to get across but my God, sometimes by the time I finish a sentence I forget how it began! She writes in a boring way.
