I want to order a lockdown present for my sister as I can't see her and am missing her like crazy. She lives on her own and is feeling a bit shit. Anyways, I saw some FB adverts for companies that deliver a book and some treats (posh tea bags, chocolates, stationary etc) in a box each month. Prices are about £12-£20 a month so not cheap but she's worth it!
I've looked at companies called Books That Matter and one called respardo (not sure that's the right spelling??).
Has anyone used these companies? Or used others??
Thanks

I have had a couple of boxes from books that matter and ive found that to be quite good, mostly female literary writers though so it depends really on the kind of books your after

My local bookshop does various packages which are pretty good value.

www.datenightwithabook.com/ ? I've used them a few times. They do one offs as well as subscriptions.

I've just found this thread while looking for experiences of the "A Book Of Stories" monthly subscription service. Sounds good - four mixed fiction paperbacks for £14.99 including delivery.

Has anyone else subscribed? What are the books like?

I’ve just signed up for this book club. www.shelterbox.org/book-club/
Good books and supporting a charity too. I’ve not had the first book yet but looked on their website and Facebook page and seems like a good selection. You get a chance to vote on a shortlist of 3 books picked by the people who run the book club and then everyone gets sent the one with the most votes. There’s also a chance to discuss the book online too if you want to.

Bert's books do different subscriptions at different prices. No wee extras included but they tie your books with a ribbon and it is a new independent bookshop!
