Recommendation needed for atmospheric cosy-ish mystery or thriller

Hi
I want something easy and fast-paced to read to take my mind off the news. Would love a mystery or thriller without many gory descriptions. Really atmospheric setting would help.
I loved the Jackson Brodie and Cormoran Strike series and really loved The Goldfinch. Also enjoyed Tara French. Something along those lines.

Any ideas who I should try next? Not sleeping well and just want to download something to Kindle and get lost in it. Thanks so much.

Also maybe Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield - it isn't a straightforward detective-solves-murder-mystery but it is mega atmospheric and while it does meander like a river it is much more tightly plotted than I thought it would be to begin with.

@highlandcoo - I've tried to get into five other novels since finishing that one and none of them has hooked me. Might have to accept defeat and download the next Gamache book. Grin

Thanks for the recommendations. I've started reading Broken Ground by Val McDermid and am enjoying it.
I don't know if they've been mentioned but I really like Reginald Hill's Dalziel and Pascoe books - and if you like them there are lots to read.
